Consistency is a system, not one filter
A store grid feels coherent when product scale, crop, background family, light direction, and image margins follow a repeatable rule. Applying the same dramatic filter to every source photo does not fix different camera angles, supplier crops, or product proportions.
Start by choosing one product-photo standard for each collection. Write it down so the next launch can follow the same decisions.
Define a collection image standard
- Aspect ratio: Choose the shape used by your theme and collection grid.
- Subject scale: Decide how much of the frame the product should occupy.
- Background family: Use one white, warm neutral, cool neutral, or contextual direction.
- Shadow: Choose a subtle contact shadow, soft cast shadow, or no visible shadow.
- Camera view: Keep hero angles comparable within a product category.
- Colour rule: Preserve real product colour and avoid a grade that changes the item.
Fix the source files before AI editing
Collect the highest-resolution originals you have. Remove duplicates, flag missing angles, and group by category or supplier. When possible, reshoot images that are blurry, severely compressed, cropped through the product, or lit so poorly that colour cannot be judged.
AI can improve presentation, but a clean source reduces invented edges and makes the final quality check easier.
Test one difficult product first
Choose an item with fine text, reflective material, transparent edges, or complex texture. Use the Shopify product photo editor to test the intended direction. If the result preserves that difficult product, run two or three additional shapes before approving a batch prompt.
Group products that should share a direction
Do not force bottles, clothing, furniture, and jewellery into one batch. Give each category its own framing and accuracy checklist. Hyperistic Premium supports up to 30 images per batch, but smaller related groups are easier to review and usually produce a more coherent collection.
Review the collection as a grid
Individual images can look good while the full collection still feels uneven. Place approved results in a temporary grid at the same thumbnail size used by the store. Look for products that appear too large or small, background shifts, inconsistent margins, and shadows that point in different directions.
Check product truth before upload
Compare every result with the original. Confirm colour, labels, variant, quantity, material, fit, dimensions, and included accessories. Do not publish an image that hides damage, changes the product, or implies an item is included when it is not.
Shopify photo consistency checklist
- Every collection uses a documented aspect ratio and subject scale.
- Related products share a background and lighting family.
- Product colour and important details match the original.
- The grid looks balanced at mobile thumbnail size.
- File names and alt text describe the real product rather than keyword stuffing.
- Current theme and marketplace requirements are checked before upload.
